Nice room but older. Served our needs. Walk away from town about 300 meters to a local grocery store. (However, no microwave and you share the refrigerator with two other rooms outside in the hall.)

This was my first visit to this hotel and i hope to return! It occupies the upper stories of an old building on a main thoroughfare in Venice's Cannaregio district, just 6 or 7 minutes' walking distance to the main railway station and the bus station. My very spacious and comfortable room looked out onto the main street and its shops, markets, cafés and bars. This is very busy and hence noisy, and even in that cold winter's week, it was also quite noisy late at night . This did not trouble me, but it might be less pleasant in summer, when you keep windows wide open. The hosts were very friendly and welcomng and also very helpful with advice. From here , most of Central Venice is easily accessible on foot. The vaporetto (water bus) stops nearby.

This boutique hotel, is so cute. I can't say enough about the uniqueness, of this property. Where do I start... firstly, coming in the door, you're met with a rustic vibe. The entryway, and up the stairway to the lobby, is a light brick. Once up the stairs, you land in the lobby. The wallpaper! The chandeliers! I love it. The ceilings had wooden beams, for that Old World feeling. The flooring had the established date of the hotel (late 1800's), embellished in center, and the modern furniture fit the look. The pictures don't do this place justice. I stayed twice, and each room, #12 & #15, was just as quaint. These updated rooms had their own cooling/heating system, and were big enough for me & another traveler, to open our big luggage, without feeling cramped. The beds & bedding, were so comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised by the modern bathroom. It was so clean, and big, for European hotel standards. The shower was also a great size. We both took showers, back-to-back, and both had plenty of hot water. The hotel is a short distance from the Santa Lucia train station, about 5-7 minutes walking... about 8-10 minutes if you're lugging baggage. No waterboat needed to reach the hotel. You get out the train station, down the stairs, and start walking to the left. The main walkway will lead you over a bridge. Continue walking for 20 seconds, and make a left at the 1st alley, on the side of a restaurant, with outdoor seating. (I truly believe it was the 1st alley, but no more than the 2nd.) You will know you arrived, because there is a lighted sign above the door, with Casa Martini's name on it. You can see the sign from the main walkway. You should have been in touch with the hotel, prior to your arrival, to receive the entry code, to get in. This is very handy, if you're arriving after the host leaves for the day.

Very convenient location, even if on a main road the room was quiet. Everything was clean and the late check in easy thanks to a door code. The room was comfortable and the staff very kind and helpful.

The location worked out perfectly. It was 5 minutes away from the train/bus station and carrying your luggage in Venice can be daunting. It took 20-30 minutes to walk to most of the sites, but it was well worth it so that we didn't have to lug our suitcases too far (especially when it was raining). The room was nice and clean and there was an amazing terrace in between the 2nd and 3rd floor which worked perfectly when we needed to unwind.

The air conditioning is a champ. Whoever was in the room before us had set it to 17C and it was holding that temperature despite the 25-30C temperatures outside! The room was nice. I was ridiculously thrilled by the towel swans the housekeeping staff made. The bathroom was spacious. Bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths were provided. Housekeeping service was great. There were extra pillows in the cupboard and the sheets felt nice. Shampoo was also provided, but it was the multipurpose soap-shampoo sort. The hotel is a short walk from Piazza Roma, which was very convenient when arriving/departing by train or airport shuttle bus. It's on a fairly touristy street, so there are plenty of restaurant options (of varying quality) within easy reach. There was a banner on a balcony with the name of the place, so it was relatively easy to find. Just had to spot the right alley (which Google did not know about).

There was good communication before we arrived and the little hotel/guest house was easy to find. It was warm, comfortable and very clean. We didnt have breakfast as there are lots of great cafes nearby. In fact for us the location was perfect as all the main areas are a short scenic walk away and the area the hotel iscin is interesting in its own right. Pleased we visited in the winter as there were relatively few people around znd the bright sunny days made good the visit superb.
